Spencer is a native of Phoenix, Arizona and graduated from Tolleson Union High School in 2001. He followed his childhood with two years of missionary service in the gorgeous country of Slovenia, and upon returning home, commenced his college journey at the University of Arizona where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in accounting in December 2007. Shortly thereafter, Spencer embarked on his career as a tax accountant by starting work with local Phoenix CPA firm Sarvas, Coleman & Tobin (then named Sarvas, King & Coleman) in February 2008 where he spent the first 5 ½ years of his career. Spencer followed this stint with 9 years of work at Price Kong & Company, another local CPA firm. In the fall of 2022, Spencer reconnected with Mitch Adler, the last manager he worked under with his original firm, and he took the opportunity to join Karpinski, Bernstein & Adler. At the beginning of 2024, Spencer purchased the book of firm managing partner Richard Karpinski and was elevated to tax partner of the firm at that time where he remains to this day. Spencer has extensive experience with clients in the construction and cannabis industries and also has good experience with tax controversy, assisting clients involved in civil federal tax disputes and compliance issues with the IRS and various state departments of revenue. Spencer is a member of the Arizona Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He was formerly a member of BNI North Phoenix Business Leaders from 2017 to 2021. Outside the office, Spencer enjoys vacationing with family and baking cookies for his kids.
