Grace Marie Guisewite
is an attorney supervisor and capital appeals attorney with the Maricopa County Office of the Legal Advocate. After graduating from Boston University School of Law, Grace worked as an associate for Dechert LLP, where she primarily practiced white collar and securities litigation. In 2012, Grace joined the Yavapai County Public Defender’s Office, where she represented clients charged with serious felony offenses. In 2019, Grace joined the appellate division of the Maricopa County Office of the Legal Advocate. She has successfully argued several times before the Arizona Court of Appeals and the Arizona Supreme Court, including in R.S. v. Hon. Thompson (Vanders), 251 Ariz. 111 (2021), which clarified criminal defendants’ due process rights to pretrial discovery from victims. Grace served as the president of the Yavapai County Bar Association in 2017. The Arizona Attorneys for Criminal Justice awarded her the William Rothstein Achievement Award in 2018, and a Presidential Commendation in 2024. Grace currently serves on AACJ’s Amicus Committee. She has been a guest lecturer at the Boston University School of Law and the Levin College of Law (University of Florida Law).
