loves tax law! She is a CPA as well as a State Bar of Arizona Certified Tax Law Specialist. She is a Senior Attorney with Wiggam & Geer, a tax controversy law firm in Atlanta, Georgia. Giselle's practice is exclusively focused on tax controversies, with an emphasis on litigation. Her current caseload includes Section 831(b) microcaptives, syndicated conservation easements, capital gains treatment, hobby loss issues, innocent spouse claims, and estate valuation issues.
She graduated from Arizona State University College of Law in 2009 with her J.D. and from Northwestern University in 2010 with her LL.M. in Taxation. She is a recipient of the State Bar of Arizona's Tax Law Outstanding Student award, as well as a former chair of the Tax Section. She is also the past president of the Arizona State Board of Accountancy. She started her career with a Big-4 accounting firm in Phoenix, Arizona working on transactional matters before taking a leap into litigation and moving to a local law firm.
When not working on tax related matters, you can find her using her research skills to solve genealogy mysteries or attending historical reenactments and commemorative events. She is an officer of the Georgia Mayflower Society and active in her local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was active with Arizona's Wills For Heroes and is hoping to expand Georgia's program beyond Atlanta into Middle Georgia.
is a Senior Member of The Cavanagh Law Firm, a Phoenix-based law firm where his practice involves all areas of state and local tax including sales, use, gross receipts, privilege, excise, and severance taxes as well as income, real and personal property taxes. Before entering private practice, Mr. Busby served as Chief Auditor and Principal Tax Analyst for the Transaction Privilege (Sales) and Use Tax Division of the Arizona Department of Revenue. During his time at the Department, he argued and settled cases for the Department, advised the Director on tax policy issues as a member of the Uniformity Committee, and acted as liaison to the Attorney General's office. As Chief Auditor, he employed a staff of 125 professionals to administer Arizona's sales, use and severance tax audit programs including the Cities Program, which conducts audits for 75 Arizona municipalities. In his law practice, and before that while working for two of the world’s largest accounting firms (Arthur Andersen and Deloitte), Mr. Busby has successfully advised and represented numerous clients of all sizes and from numerous industries in a variety of tax matters. Active in the business, professional and nonprofit communities, he is a past Chair and the current Legislative Liaison for the State Bar of Arizona’s Tax Section, a board member at the Arizona Tax Research Association, on the Advisory Board for the Phoenix Tax Workshop, and a member of the Business Advisory Council for the Streamlined Sales Tax Project. Mr. Busby lectures extensively on state and local tax topics, co-authored the chapter regarding the Judicial Review of Taxation in the Arizona Appellate Handbook published by the State Bar of Arizona, and authors a monthly column on state and local tax topics entitled A Dash of SALT for the AZ CPA Magazine. He earned his J.D. and M.B.A. from Arizona State University and his B.A. from Brigham Young University. is partner and co-founder of Kaczmarek & Jojola, a tax litigation firm with offices in Arizona and Nevada. His practice includes tax litigation, tax audits, and tax collection. As a tax controversy attorney, he represents individuals, businesses, trusts and estates against the I.R.S. and state/local taxing authorities.
The Tax Section of the State Bar of Arizona elected Mr. Kaczmarek as the chair in 2018. The State Bar of Arizona's Board of Legal Specialization also recognizes Mr. Kaczmarek as a certified tax law specialist. Mr. Kaczmarek also serves on the State Bar's Board of Legal Certification.
Mr. Kaczmarek began his tax controversy career as a trial attorney with the I.R.S. in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2005. He ended his government service in 2012 as a senior trial attorney with the I.R.S. in Phoenix, Arizona. During that time, he represented the I.R.S. in hundreds of cases before the United States Tax Court. He served as lead counsel in more than forty U.S. Tax Court trials. He also advised I.R.S. revenue agents and revenue officers in issues ranging from development of criminal cases, seizure of property (including personal residences), conducting a tax fraud audit, innocent spouse cases and international tax issues.
Mr. Kaczmarek discretely and aggressively represents his clients, effectively using his experience as a former government attorney as well as his understanding of IRS and U.S. Tax Court practices and procedures.
