Your Cochise County Bar and State Bar are excited to bring to you the latest in creative yet simple trial presentation and trial technology ideas, that you can affordably use in the Cochise County courtrooms. Certified Trial Specialist Peter Akmajian and his partner Dev Sethi will demonstrate a variety of innovative ways to bring your case to life. Brian Chase will discuss digital evidence in litigation and trial. 

Chief Justice Brutinel , and soon to be Chief Justice Timmer have announced they have no intention of bringing peremptory challenges back as part of the jury selection process.  Ted Schmidt and presiding judge Timothy Dickerson will lead a discussion with the Cochise County bench and trial lawyers Sara Xochitl Orozco and Lori Zucco regarding how you can be most effective in selecting a jury with the use of juror questionnaires, voir dire and challenges for cause.

Lori Ann Zucco Related Seminars and Products


Lori Zucco began her legal career in Tucson after graduating from the University of Arizona College of Law in 1996. After a brief stint in private practice, she served as a City of Tucson Deputy Public Defender for seven years. In 2004 she answered an ad for a “Prosecutor in Paradise” and moved to the Republic of Palau in Micronesia, where she served as an Assistant Attorney General for four years.
In 2009 she made her way to Bisbee and joined the Cochise County Attorney’s Office as a Deputy County Attorney in the felony General Crimes Unit. In 2018 she was promoted to Chief Criminal Deputy.

Judge Timothy B. Dickerson is a judge for the Cochise County Superior Court. He was appointed to the bench on February 6, 2019. Judge Dickerson earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Arizona State University. He then completed a J.D. at Arizona State University, Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law. He was named Justice of the Peave of the Year by the Arizona Justice of the Peace Association (2014).

Peter Akmajian is a 1984 graduate (with distinction) from the University of Arizona College of Law. He clerked for the Honorable Frank X. Gordon from 1984-85. He has been in private practice since 1985 with O’Connor Cavanagh in Phoenix and Tucson, the Udall Law Firm and now with Schmidt, Sethi & Akmajian, where he represents patients and their families in medical malpractice and other personal injury cases. Peter is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a member of ABOTA.

Dev is a partner with Schmidt, Sethi & Akmajian. He represents plaintiffs in a wide variety of complex injury and wrongful death cases throughout Arizona. Dev is the past President of Ben's Bells, an organization focused on the power of intentional kindness; the Arizona Minority Bar Association; Children's Museum Tucson; and the University of Arizona Law College Association Foundation. For several years he served as Chair of the State Bar Trial Practice Section and currently serves as on the Advisory Board of Angel Charity for Children. He is member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a Fellow in the International Society of Barristers, and listed in Best Lawyers in America. Joel A Larson Related Seminars and Products


Judge Larson is a 1996 graduate of Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota, and was admitted to the State Bar of Arizona that same year. In 1999, he joined the Office of the Cochise County Legal Defender, handling juvenile delinquency and felony matters. Beginning in 2001, he was in private practice for four and a half years, handling a mixture of criminal, appellate, juvenile, domestic and federal matters. He rejoined the Office of the Legal Defender in 2005, handling numerous felony trial and appellate cases. He was the department head of that office for over ten years, handling administrative matters in addition to a regular caseload. Judge Larson was elected to Division One of the Cochise County Superior Court in November 2022. Judge Larson handles a mixture of felony, domestic and civil cases.


Brian Michael Chase Related Seminars and Products

Brian Chase is a consultant, expert witness, adjunct professor of law, and attorney. He is the former owner of Chase Technology Consulting, a legal technology consulting firm providing digital forensics and e-discovery expertise. He now serves ArcherHall’s Managing Director of Digital Forensics and eDiscovery.

Mr. Chase has a diverse education and work background. He spent years working as a network administrator for the University of Arizona. He has a Management and Information Systems degree from the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona, a top ranked program in the country. Mr. Chase went on to earn a law degree, also from the University of Arizona. Before turning to digital forensics, he worked as a trial attorney handling criminal defense and personal injury cases. Mr. Chase has worked as a digital forensics expert for over a decade and has testified over 35 times as an expert in criminal and civil matters ranging from misdemeanors to murder to medical malpractice.

Mr. Chase has published and spoken on various technology related issues impacting law firms as well as parties in the civil and criminal justice system. He teaches various topics regarding law and technology, and digital forensics and evidence, at a variety of legal and technical conferences. He was honored by the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Arizona Daily Star with a “Tucson’s 40 Under 40 Award”, which recognizes young leaders who are making an impact in the community with their professional and charitable work.
