Please join the Appellate Practice Section for an engaging discussion on the practice of transferring cases from Division One to Division Two and the ongoing rollout of CaseLines, the digital evidence portal. Our panelists will explain how and why cases are selected to be transferred, provide an overview of the case processing procedure at Division 2, and demonstrate how to effectively use CaseLines on appeal.

is the Chief Staff Attorney at Division Two of the Court of Appeals. She graduated from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law in 1982, and practiced general civil litigation with the law firm of Thayer & Thayer, P.C. in Phoenix until she joined the Court of Appeals as a staff attorney in February 1989. She has served as a judge pro tempore for the Pima County Juvenile Court, has taught seminars on criminal and juvenile law, appeals, special actions, and legal writing, and co-authored the special action section of the Arizona Appellate Handbook. Ms. Beckmann served as staff on the Rule 32 Task Force, and served on the Civil Practice and Procedure Committee, the Appellate Case Processing Implementation Task Force, the Juvenile Subcommittee of the Court Improvement Program, the Arizona Supreme Court's Committee on Juvenile Appeals: Delay Reduction/Best Practices, and most recently, the Juvenile Rules Task Force.

is the Chief Staff Attorney at the Arizona Court of Appeals, Division One. In addition to researching and drafting proposed case dispositions, she is responsible for several aspects of case administration, including working with the Clerk of the Court to calendar civil appeals, evaluating and resolving civil motions, and making recommendations to the Chief Judge regarding oral argument requests. Before joining the court in 2005, Barbara concentrated her practice on complex commercial litigation. She is a graduate of the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona. 05/18

Mac McCallum is the Chief Staff Attorney at Division Two of the State of Arizona Court of Appeals. He graduated from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law in 2005 and served as a law clerk for Judge J. William Brammer, Jr., before joining the staff attorney team in 2010. Mr. McCallum taught legal writing at the University of Arizona College of Law from 2011 to 2024.
Amy Wood Related Seminars and Products
retired from the Court of Appeals in March of 2025. She had been the Clerk of the Court since August of 2016. During her time with the court she focused on improving processes and introducing more automation as well as an increased use of electronic documents in internal processes. Prior to working with the Court of Appeals, Amy worked for the Administrative Office of the Courts managing statewide projects for the judicial branch of Arizona. Amy holds a Master’s degree in Human and Animal Cognition and is a Fellow of the Institute of Court Management.
