Sheena Chawla

SHEENA S. CHAWLA is a criminal defense practitioner in the felony trial unit at the Maricopa County Office of the Legal Defender. Ms. Chawla graduated from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College Of Law in May of 2007 where she was honored as the “Outstanding Woman Law Graduate” for the class of 2007.
After graduation, she clerked for the Honorable Terry L. Chandler, Associate Presiding Judge of the Pima County Juvenile Court Center. She joined the Pima County Public Defender’s Office in April of 2008. She represented juveniles in delinquency matters from April 2008 through May of 2009. In May of 2009, she began representing adults as part of the Spanish speaking felony trial team.
In June of 2012, Ms. Chawla received the “Rising Star” award at the Arizona Public Defender’s Association’s Annual Conference in Tempe, Arizona for her commitment to indigent defense. Ms. Chawla serves on several State Bar of Arizona committees, and is a fluent Spanish speaker.
