Ms. Banihashemi’s practice includes general insurance defense litigation and coverage work. She developed her insurance defense experience by handling tort defense litigation and performing pre-trial litigation for complex construction defect cases. Ms. Banihashemi also has substantial criminal defense experience. Previously, Shawdy practiced criminal defense with the Maricopa County Public Defender, where she handled a wide variety of criminal matters, ranging from simple infractions to serious felony charges. Shawdy has significant experience as a trial attorney having been lead counsel at numerous trials.

 

Ms. Banihashemi is actively involved with the State Bar of Arizona. She currently serves on the Committee for Minorities and Women in the Law and the Convention Committee. Shawdy was selected to be a participant in the 2010-2011 State Bar Leadership Institute. Shawdy is also a member of the Arizona Women Lawyers Association, Maricopa County Bar Association and is a National Board Representative for the Iranian American Bar Association.
