is an animal advocate and former prosecutor for the City of Tucson, who is currently employed by the Pascua Yaqui Tribe as a Public Defender. Through her employment with the Tribe, she collaborated closely with the tribal prosecutor to create a progressive new animal section of the Tribal Code. In addition to her day job, she is also an adjunct professor at the U of A law school, teaching Animal Law whenever the class fills; is a member of the Southern Arizona Animal Cruelty Task Force; acts as a board member of three different non-profit's that focus on bully breed rescue and advocacy, with a focus on education and responsible dog ownership regardless of breed; actively volunteers with the Humane Society of Southern Arizona with her two pit bull type therapy dogs; is a member of a committee tasked with getting an anti-puppy mill piece of legislation passed in Tucson; is a member of a committee that provides free spay/neuter/vaccination services on a large scale to the local community; was recently invited to help teach law enforcement about effective investigation of animal cruelty from a prosecutors perspective; and is an active member of the local animal advocate community in southern Arizona, speaking publicly to help educate the community on issues like breed specific/discriminatory legislation and mandatory spay/neuter laws whenever asked to. Sara lives in Tucson and shares her life with her four rescue pit bull type dogs, and one pig that she sponsors at the Ironwood Pig Sanctuary in Red Rock, AZ. In her spare time she makes custom dog (and cat) pillows to donate to other non-profit rescues for online auction fundraisers. 11/15
