Richard F. Ross is the co-chair of the firm’s real estate activities on a worldwide basis and the chair of the firm’s hospitality/leisure practice. He has an extensive hotel/resort industry focused practice and has been involved in projects throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, Mexico, the Caribbean, Australia and the Pacific Islands. He represents owners, operators, franchisors and franchisees as to the due diligence, acquisition, development, financing and operation of hotels, resorts and spas. Mr. Ross has substantial experience in negotiating and documenting hotel management agreements for both owners and operators. He has also counseled clients involved in the timeshare industry since 1980. Mr. Ross has experience in golf course properties, in connection with resort properties, stand-alone courses (private, semiprivate and public) and those contained within planned communities. Mr. Ross is actively involved in assisting clients with regard to identifying, structuring, negotiating and documenting the capitalization of projects as to equity, mezzanine and traditional debt financing. He regularly advises clients on complex single or multiple asset transactions and has significant experience representing both public and private sector clients in public-private partnerships involving hotel, mixed use and retail projects. Other responsibilities include handling all aspects of the purchase, sale, development and financing of real estate. Mr. Ross is a certified specialist in real estate for the State Bar of Arizona and is a member of its Real Property Section and International Law Section. He is a member of the American Bar Association’s Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section, and of its Hospitality Committee. Mr. Ross is a member of the Executive Planning Committee of the New York University Annual International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference. He is also a member of the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AH&LA), the Urban Land Institute (ULI), the International Society of Hospitality Consultants (ISHC), the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate (AFIRE) and Valley Partnership. He is admitted to practice in Arizona.
