Laura Lemire
Laura Lemire is Of Counsel at Schwabe in Seattle and has advised clients on privacy and security matters for 12+ years. Her practice focuses on helping clients develop innovative products, adopt emerging technologies, and respond to digital threats, from ransomware attacks to copyright infringement claims.
Leveraging her practical in-house experience, Laura assists clients in complying with complex data protection requirements, negotiating technology and data agreements, developing privacy and security policies, managing security incidents, and navigating regulatory uncertainty. She has helped clients respond to regulatory inquiries and investigations in the U.S. and the EU, including investigations related to online advertising, algorithmic bias, and security incidents.
Today, Laura advises clients in all industries and at all stages—from startups to Fortune 500 businesses. She has counseled the biggest names in software, cloud computing, AI, social media, healthcare, and wellness. Laura often speaks on privacy and security issues, as well as the responsible use of AI.
Laura graduated with a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan and a J.D. from Seattle University School of Law. She is a member of the Washington State Bar, and has also completed certifications by the International Association of Privacy Professionals in the U.S. and the EU (CIPP/US, CIPP/EU) and MIT CSAIL’s program on Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy. Laura is a descendant of the Grand Portage Band of the Lake Superior Chippewa and currently resides in the ancestral lands of the Snoqualmie in Sammamish, WA.
