Juliet Burgress is The Burgess Law Group’s Founding Partner and the Arizona Representative for the Federal Bar Association’s Labor & Employment Law Section. She’s been named Outstanding Women In Business by Phoenix Business Journal, Women Achiever of Arizona by Arizona Capitol Times, Angel of the Year by Arizona Business Magazine, SuperLawyer® and Best Lawyers In America®.  Under her leadership, The Burgess Law Group ranked among the Best Law Firms In America®, ranked among the top labor and employment firms in the Valley by Ranking Arizona, and received the "All In For Women Award" from Arizona Women Lawyer’s Association.  
Juliet’s experience includes representing employers of varying sizes and industries with respect to employment law and human resources matters.  She currently counsels clients on issues relating to employment discrimination and retaliation, wrongful termination, sexual harassment, hiring and termination procedures, the Family Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”), the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”), leaves of absence and paid time off, non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, the Fair Labor Standards Act (“FLSA”), work place safety, drug testing, and technology in the workplace.
She also represents executive level employees in negotiating compensation and severance packages as well as non-competition non-solicitation, and non-disclosure agreements.  Additionally, her practice includes representing employees with respect to sexual harassment, equal pay, discrimination, retaliation and other sensitive workplace issues.  Juliet has authored articles and presented legal seminars on a variety of employment law topics and routinely conducts workplace investigations as well as in-house trainings on harassment and discrimination avoidance in the workplace.
Prior to opening Burgess Employment Law, Juliet practiced in the Phoenix offices of international law firms (Greenberg Traurig, LLP and Littler Mendelson, P.C.) where she represented employers, ranging from fortune 500® companies to start-up businesses, before federal and state courts, administrative agencies, and in mediation and arbitration proceedings; successfully handling cases from inception through trial.  She also managed multi-district litigations and class actions and served as corporate, litigation, and labor & employment counsel to clients nationwide.
Juliet earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona (B.A., Psychology, cum laude 2000) and her Juris Doctorate at the Washington College of Law, American University in Washington, D.C. (J.D., cum laude 2004).In addition to practicing law, Juliet is also an active member of the Phoenix community.  She has served on the Board of Directors for several non-profit organizations and co-chaired many non-profit fundraising events. Juliet currently serves on the Board of Directors for The Friends of The Phoenix Public Library, The Arizona Women’s Lawyers Association, and The Arizona Foundation for Women.
