Judge Suzanne Cohen

Judge Suzanne Cohen was appointed to the Bench in December 2012 and took office January 2013. Her first rotation is with Family Court. Prior to being appointed, Judge Cohen was a prosecutor with the Maricopa County Attorney’s office and with the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office. During her tenure as a prosecutor, Judge Cohen prosecuted sex crimes, child abuse, domestic violence cases and homicides. She served as a bureau chief in a trial group and in the Family Violence Bureau. Judge Cohen received the 2006 Governor’s award for outstanding Sexual Assault Prosecutor, Maricopa County Attorney Violent Crimes Prosecutor of the year for 2007; the 2011 Arizona Prosecuting Attorney’s Advisory Council Felony Prosecutor of the year award and was commended for outstanding advocacy in a capital case by the association of government attorneys in capital litigation for 2011-2012. As a prosecutor, Judge Cohen presented locally and nationally on evidence issues, trial preparation, interviewing children and prosecuting sex crimes. Since being appointed, Judge Cohen has presented for the Arizona State Bar, the Maricopa County Bar and AAML on various family law topics. (12/2015)
