Ian C. Ballon is a partner in the Los Angeles and Palo Alto offices of
Manatt, Phelps, and Phillips, LLP, where he is co-chair of the firm's
Intellectual Property and Internet Practice Group. Mr. Ballon focuses his
practice on representing technology, media, and entertainment companies in
complex copyright, trade secret, Lanham Act, database and Internet law cases
in federal and state courts and in licensing and counseling matters. Named
one of the top 25 intellectual property lawyers in California in 2003 by The
Daily Journal, Mr. Ballon is the author of the widely acclaimed three-volume legal
treatise, "E-Commerce and Internet Law: Treatise With Forms." He is also
Executive Director of Stanford University Law School's Center for E-Commerce
and is a Council Member (and the Computer Law Division Chair) of the
American Bar Association's Section of Science and Technology. Mr. Ballon
received his undergraduate degree from Tufts University, his J.D. from
George Washington University National Law Center, and his LLM (International
and Comparative Law) from Georgetown University Law Center.
