Harriet L Turney
Harriet L. Turney is currently the Ombudsman for the Industrial Commission of Arizona. She was the Chief ALJ from 1998-2013. She has represented injured workers, and served a brief, but memorable, stint as an attorney with CopperPoint. Harriet is a trained mediator who conducted scores of mediations during her tenure at the commission and at other state agencies. In an earlier life, she was Chief Bar Counsel and General Counsel for the State Bar of Arizona. In an earlier, earlier life, she was a labor and employment lawyer representing labor organizations including the Ohio Conference of Teamster. She is active member of the State Bar of Arizona, U.S. Districts Courts of Arizona, the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, and the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals, and an inactive member of the Ohio Bar. She graduated from the University of Dayton School of Law, taught at the University of Toledo School of Law, and clerked for two years for a federal district judge in Dayton, Ohio.
