During his 25+ years in practice, Mr. Smith has represented an assortment of clients in State and Federal courts, administrative hearings, and arbitrations. He has also authored two legal treatises on construction law. Since 2010, Mr. Smith has represented a variety of cannabis industry participants, is a Founding Director and current President of the Cannabis Bar Association and is a frequent lecturer on a variety of cannabis issues. In 2019, he was amici counsel before the Arizona Supreme Court on behalf of the former director of the Arizona Department of Health Services in State v. Jones, a case that restored cannabis contracts to legal status in Arizona. Mr. Smith is an advocate of alternative dispute resolution for the cannabis industry, has taught ADR classes for the American Arbitration Association, and has registered the trademarks: Weediation and Weediator to advertise his ADR services.
