Douglas N. Currault serves as Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Freeport-McMoRan Inc. (NYSE: FCX), a leading international mining company and one of the world’s largest publicly traded copper producers. Mr. Currault leads the Legal Department and is responsible for oversight and supervision of the company’s legal, government relations and global compliance functions. He is the chief legal advisor and counsel to the senior leadership team and the Board of Directors, offering legal expertise and advising on risk exposure, liability, compliance, and general corporate law. Mr. Currault, who has extensive experience in corporate and transactional matters, has been involved in every major transaction for the company over the past 25 years.
Mr. Currault has been active with the Freeport-McMoRan organization since 1995 and has assumed roles of increasing responsibility throughout his affiliation with the company. Prior to his current role, which he assumed in October 2019, he served as Deputy General Counsel and Corporate Secretary since January 2015.  Mr. Currault began his career at Freeport in January 2008 as Assistant General Counsel and Corporate Secretary.    
Prior to joining Freeport, Mr. Currault was a partner at Jones Walker LLP in New Orleans specializing in corporate and securities law, corporate governance, and mergers and acquisitions, and served as outside securities counsel for Freeport since 1995. 
Mr. Currault is a member of the Board of Directors of St. Mary’s Food Bank, one of the largest food banks in the United States. 
Mr. Currault received his Bachelor of Science (Mathematics), cum laude from Loyola University of New Orleans, and his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Tulane University Law School. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
