Chrissi Ross Nimmo

Chrissi Ross Nimmo, Cherokee Nation citizen, is the Deputy Attorney General for Cherokee Nation. Chrissi is the managing attorney for the staff of 15 attorneys. She was lead counsel for Cherokee Nation in Adoptive Couple v. Baby Girl (known as “Baby Veronica”) before both the United States Supreme Court and the South Carolina Supreme Court. She presents continuing legal education on Indian law across the country.
In 2013, Chrissi was awarded the Cherokee National Statesmanship Award which is “given in recognition to an individual who, as a public servant, epitomizes the service leader ideal, exemplifying Cherokee values and acting with respect, dignity, and graciousness while working for the betterment of the Cherokee Nation and its citizens.” In 2015, Chrissi was named one of The National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development (NCAIED) “Native American 40 Under 40.” In 2018, Chrissi was named one of Oklahoma Magazine’s 40 Under 40. Chrissi is Vice-President of the Tahlequah Public Schools Board of Education and the Chair of the Northeastern State University Foundation Board of Trustees.
Chrissi and her husband Jim, a Tulsa firefighter, reside in Tahlequah with their 7 year old twins Mattie and James and 4 year old Emmy.

Chrissi is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Oklahoma, Supreme Court of Cherokee Nation, U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Western and Northern Districts of Oklahoma, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and United States Supreme Court.
