BRENDA THOMSON became the executive director of the Maricopa County Bar Association in Phoenix in March 1996. She obtained her bachelors degree in English and J.D. from Yale Law School in 1989. After graduation she practiced corporate law with Cooley Godward Castro Huddleson & Tatum in Palo Alto, California. In 1991, she was extern to Congressman Major Owens, and in 1992, she clerked for Federal District Judge Edward Dean Price in Fresno, California. In 1993, she joined the Urban Indian Law Project of Community Legal Services as a staff attorney, and thereafter joined Moore McCoy & Payne as an associate in 1995. She is past president of the Young Lawyers Division of the Hayzel B. Daniels Bar Association and is a member of the Lorna Lockwood Inns of Court, Arizona Women Lawyers Association, American Bar Association, Hayzel B. Daniels Bar Association and National Association of Bar Executives. She serves on the boards of the University Club and Maricopa County Bar Foundation.
