Bernard A. Krooks
Mr. Krooks is the founding partner of the law firm Littman Krooks LLP, which has offices in New York City and White Plains. Mr. Krooks is past President of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), a Fellow of the Academy, past Chair of the Tax Special Interest Group, past Editor-in-Chief of the NAELA News and has served on the NAELA Board of Directors. In addition, Mr. Krooks is certified as an Elder Law Attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation. He is a member of the American Association of Attorney-Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. He serves on the ACTEC Elder Law Committee. Mr. Krooks is past Chair of the Elder Law Section of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA), a member of its Executive Committee, Chair of its Legal Education Committee, past Chair of its Elder Law Practice Committee and past Editor-in-Chief of the Elder Law Attorney, the newsletter of the NYSBA Elder Law Section. Mr. Krooks has co-authored a chapter in the New York State Bar Association’s publication Guardianship Practice in New York State entitled "Creative Advocacy in Guardianship Settings: Medicaid and Estate Planning, Including Transfer of Assets, Supplemental Needs Trusts and Protection of Disabled Family Members." He has also co-authored the New York Sate Bar Association publication Elder Law and Will Drafting. Mr. Krooks is a widely quoted expert on elder law matters and has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and Newsweek, among many other publications, and has appeared as an elder law expert on National Public Radio, CNN, PBS, NBC, and CBS evening news, as well as numerous cable television and radio shows. He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at New York University Center for Finance, Law & Taxation and is a member of the NYU Institute on Federal Taxation Advisory Board.
