The Ethics of Generative A.I.

Learn the basics of what artificial intelligence and generative artificial intelligence is, how it is trained, the risks and benefits of using GAI and the ethical implications of doing so.  This session will include best practices information on competence and confidentiality when using AI.


Third-Party Bad Faith

This presentation will provide an overview of the legal framework governing third-party bad faith claims in Arizona, with discussion of insurer duties, key case law, and how liability exposure arises. Strategies for navigating time-limited demands, Stipulated Judgments, and Damron/Morris Agreements will also be covered.


First-Party Bad Faith

Explore the current standards governing first-party bad faith claims, including breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing. Criminal Charges & Insurance Coverage for Personal Injury/Wrongful Death Matters

Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Coverage and Updates

He has been cited by the Supreme Courts of 34 states, the Intermediate Appellate Courts in 23 states, 12 of the Federal Circuit Courts of Appeal, 60 Federal District Courts, and the Federal Court of Claims. He has been cited in 95 scholarly articles. He has been continuously listed as a top 50 lawyer in Arizona (2007-2020) by Southwest Super Lawyers®. Only a few lawyers have been continuously on the list since its inception. He is recognized as a "Business Leader" (insurance) by Arizona Business Magazine and has been listed by Arizona Business Magazine as one of the top 100 lawyers in Arizona. Mr. Plitt has been listed in Best Lawyers® since 2007 (10+ years) (insurance) and was named the Insurance Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers® in 2012 and 2017 for Phoenix. He is also listed in Best Lawyers for the topic "Litigation - Insurance," and was the Lawyer of the Year in this category in 2020. He is a Fellow in the American College of Coverage and Extra-contractual Counsel. He is a Member of the American Law Institute where he was a consultative member on the development of the Restatement of Liability Insurance. He is a nationally recognized expert witness in insurance claim handling and bad faith cases and has been retained as an expert in hundreds of cases venued in 33 states. He is a former adjunct Professor of Law at ASU College of Law teaching insurance law. He is currently an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Arizona where he teaches insurance law.

He has provided insurance coverage analysis and advice to many commercial insurance companies for complex and high-exposure coverage issues across the nation. Previously he was with the firms of Kunz Plitt Hyland & Demlong and Meagher & Geer. Prior to 2010, Jordan was an extern for the Honorable James A. Teilborg of the U.S. District Court, for the District of Arizona. Jordan speaks and writes frequently on insurance law topics and has been recognized by Southwest Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in the field of insurance coverage continuously since 2012. He is one of three associate authors for COUCH ON INSURANCE 3d., a nationally recognized authoritative treatise on insurance law. He is also co-author of Practical Tools for Handling Insurance Cases which aims to filter complex insurance coverage issues into an easily readable and digestible format for attorneys across the country. He received his B.S. summa cum laude in Finance from Arizona State University, W.P. Carey School of Business, in 2007 and his J.D. cum laude from Arizona State University, Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, in 2010.

Parker is a Member at The Cavanagh Law Firm, P.A. in Phoenix. His practice focuses on the analysis of complex first and third-party coverage issues across various lines of insurance. His practice also involves the litigation of insurance coverage and bad faith actions in state and federal court. Parker graduated cum laude from the University of Arizona College of Law in 2017.



Patrick Joseph McGroder Related Seminars and Products

He has represented victims in high-profile, complex catastrophic litigation and wrongful death cases, such as the Las Vegas Route 91 Shooting cases, UBER Death case, and numerous catastrophic motor vehicle and medical malpractice injury cases. Mr. McGroder attended Brophy College Preparatory and The College of the Holy Cross, the Phoenix School of Law. During law school, Mr. McGroder worked at the Maricopa County Attorney's Office prosecuting and assisting on felony cases, including complex murder and aggravated assault prosecutions. After law school, Mr. McGroder worked at the Maricopa County Public Defender's Office for approximately four years. He represented hundreds of clients on complex criminal and civil. As a trial attorney, Mr. McGroder has had the opportunity to litigate in Maricopa County Superior Court for approximately eight years. Mr. McGroder is a top rated personal injury attorney in Phoenix, Arizona. Jennifer Fite is the Lawyer Assistance Programs Director for the State Bar of Arizona. Before joining the Bar, Jennifer had a varied career working primarily in civil litigation, most recently serving as Litigation Attorney and Managing Partner of a small firm. Jennifer has a Juris Doctorate from Southern Illinois University School of Law, Carbondale and received her Bachelors of Arts in International Relations from the University of Southern California. She has been licensed to practice in the State of Arizona since 2002 and is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona and the United States Supreme Court. She is a past Judge Pro Tempore.

Meredith L. Vivona is the Ethics Counsel for the State Bar of Arizona, where she advises lawyers through the Ethics Hotline, presents ethics related CLE programs, acts as legal advisor to the Fee Arbitration Program, serves on the Ethics Advisory Group and acts as liaison to the Arizona Supreme Court’s Attorney Ethics Advisory Committee. Prior to becoming Ethics Counsel, Meredith served as Practice Management Attorney for Practice 2.0 and the Trust Account Helpline, the State Bar’s confidential practice management and trust account advice program. Before joining the State Bar of Arizona, Meredith served as Independent Bar Counsel, investigating and prosecuting misconduct allegations brought against attorneys, when the Lawyer Regulation Office had a conflict. Part of Meredith’s responsibilities included serving as Acting Disciplinary Counsel for the Commission on Judicial Conduct where she investigated and resolved judicial misconduct complaints. Before serving as IBC, Meredith enjoyed a varied career in private practice, with experience in civil litigation matters throughout the state. Meredith is admitted to practice in Arizona and the U.S. District Court for the State of Arizona. Meredith received her Juris Doctor from Wake Forest Law School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
