Description

Former Arizona Supreme Court Justice Andrew Gould will give an update on recent U.S. Supreme Court cases addressing religious liberty topics. Topics include:

  • Religious accommodations for employees under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Groff v. DeJoy (2023))
  • Free-speech rights of creative professionals (303 Creative LLC v. Elenis (2023))
  • Government funding for religious schools (Carson v. Makin (2022))
  • The Establishment Clause and abrogation of the Lemon test (Kennedy v. Bremerton School District (2022))

This CLE will provide a discussion of these landmark cases and their implications going forward.

has a broad background in law and business. At various times his practice concentrated on litigation and at other times on transactional matters. For the last 13 years Terry has been a Judge in the Paradise Valley Municipal Court. Terry's responsibilities are extensive. For example, presiding over trials and hearings in criminal misdemeanors and civil traffic cases; domestic violence, harassment, juvenile alcohol, motion hearings, issuing search warrants and arrest warrants, and in-custody dockets. Terry is licensed and has practiced in Arizona, Wisconsin and Missouri. His undergraduate degree is from Miami University (Ohio). Before going to law school at age 36, Terry had an extensive career in finance and banking. Terry completed St. Louis University School of Law School in 2 years and 3 months, graduating cum laude. He enjoys volunteering for Bar programs that promote the understanding of our legal system. Terry has judged the State high school Moot Court finals, taught Constitutional Law in both a Community Collage's Criminal Justice program, and judged the Bar's high school Law for Kids program. Further, he teaches the required course for new Arizona licensed attorneys, either newly licensed or from out State, on Professionalism. Terry has been honored with the Martindale-Hubbell "AV" rating each year since 1992; and at times mentioned in Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in Finance, Who's Who in the Midwest and cross-referenced in Who's Who in America.


Bradley John Pew Related Seminars and Products


is an attorney at Brown & Brown Law Offices, P.C., located in St. Johns, Arizona. His practice focuses on environmental litigation, water rights, and appeals. Bradley earned his J.D. from Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School. In 2024, he was selected to the Super Lawyers Rising Stars list. Prior to his tenure at Brown & Brown, Brad worked at Fennemore, a prominent Arizona law firm. During his time there, he was recognized for his pro bono work, earning the designation of a Top Pro Bono Attorney for 2023 by the Arizona Bar Foundation.
