Description

Adoption and non-parent custody issues can be complex. In this program, we will walk you through the state involved adoption process as well as the private adoption process. From certification procedures and qualifications to covering and examining important cases on adoption and non-parent custody, this program will give you best practice pointers and tips for tackling various issues and pitfalls which can arise.

Areas of discussion will include:

Adoption - Certification procedure and qualification; State involved adoption v. private adoption; Payment of expenses for birth parent; Adoption procedure – best practices and pitfalls; Adoption subsidy; Adult adoptions; and Case Law

Non-Parent Custody - In Loco Parentis; Guardianship; Dependency; Power of Attorney; Same sex couple matters; and Case Law
