Description

The State Bar of Arizona is hosting its first installment in a series entitled “Judge’s Corner”.  The goal of the series is to offer candid, practical insights from the bench to help practitioners elevate their professionalism and courtroom effectiveness. The first installment, Ethics Spotlight from the Bench: Candor, Courtesy, and Competence, will discuss the ethical considerations for practitioners under the Arizona Rules of Professional Conduct and its ERs including ER 1.1, ER 3.3, ER 4.4, and ER 8.4.  The program will also discuss professionalism as it relates to courtesy in the courtroom and outside the courtroom.  In addition to a discussion of ethical and professional considerations, the program will include pointers for best practices to avoid common ethical and professionalism issues from the perspective of a judge.

Honorable Sandra Bensley is presently assigned to the probate bench at Pima County Superior Court and became presiding probate judge on January 1, 2025. Prior to being appointed as a judge in 2024, Judge Bensley was a shareholder at Waterfall Economidis where she practiced in the area of trust and estate law, with a concentration in probate litigation. Before joining Waterfall Economidis, Judge Bensley was an assistant public defender with Pima County.
