Robert L. Ellman

Robert L. Ellman became Senior Litigation Counsel for the Arizona Attorney General’s Office when his term as the Solicitor General ended in January, 2015.  He was the Appellate Chief for the United States Attorney’s Office, District of Nevada, from 2005 until 2013; a unit chief in the Capital Litigation Section of the Attorney General’s Office from 2000 to 2005; and a staff attorney at the Arizona Court of Appeals from 1994 to 2000.  Rob graduated from the Cornell Law School in 1985, and practiced law in Boston and Scottsdale before embarking on his public service career.  Rob has instructed prosecutors on brief writing and oral argument at the National Advocacy Center; he has taught appellate advocacy at various seminars and institutes; and he is a founding member and former Chair of the Arizona State Bar’s Appellate Practice Section.
