Hon. Mark W. Armstrong was appointed to the Maricopa County Superior Court bench in January 1988. Before becoming a judge, he was a judge advocate in the United States Air Force, an associate at Mangum, Wall, Stoops & Warden, and most recently a partner at Winston & Strawn. He practiced primarily in the areas of health care law, employment law, and civil litigation. Prior to assuming his duties as Associate Presiding Judge in June 2000, Judge Armstrong served in the civil, criminal, juvenile and family court departments of the court, including a term as Presiding Family Court Department Judge from May 1998 until June 2000. He has been a member of the Court’s Executive Committee since June 1995, and chairs the Court’s Judicial Education and Training Committee, Space Planning Committee, Building and Security Committee and Family Court Task Force. Judge Armstrong also serves on the Domestic Relations Reform Study Subcommittee of the Arizona Legislature, and the City of Phoenix Judicial Selection Advisory Board.
