Hon. John R. Ditsworth

Maricopa County Superior Court

Judge Ditsworth was appointed to the Maricopa County Superior Court Bench in January of 2001 by Governor Jane D. Hull. He was elected to a new four year term in November of 2004. His first assignment was to the family court bench in downtown Phoenix where he served from 2001 through September of 2005. He was assigned to be the Family Court Associate Presiding Judge for the South East County Court House in June of 2005. He was assigned to the downtown criminal bench in November of 2006. Work History: 2001 - Present: Judge, Superior Court in Maricopa County 1988 - 2001: Deputy County Attorney, Maricopa County Attorney. During this period, he was assigned to the Homicide Unit (Major Felony Bureau) for over ten years. He served as the Assistant Bureau chief for over eight years. 1987 - 1998: Assistant City Attorney, City of Phoenix Attorney's Office 1978 - 1987: Attorney, private practice - bankruptcy, criminal defense and domestic relations, Tucson.
