More than 20 years' experience as a civil litigator, arbitrator, mediator, multidisciplinary project manager, and educator. Presently involved in dispute resolution handling large multi-party cases dealing with legally and technically complex subject matter. Case examples include construction defect, construction claims and tort litigation, real estate development, insurance, commercial, business, and corporate matters. Prior law practice involved construction litigation (80%) and real estate matters (20%). Expertise in multi-disciplinary (architectural, engineering, public works infrastructure, and master planning) project management encompassing over $200 million in capital improvements. Adjunct professor teaching classes in business, construction, employment, and international law, consumer law, conflict resolution, and legal negotiation. Facilitates consumer-oriented legal studies in state and federal consumer acts including Truth-in-Lending, Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, and the Uniform Commercial Code. American Arbitration Association sole and panel arbitrator since 1987, also serving as a member of the Large Complex Case Panel. Has been mediating since 1992, and has served as a discovery referee in a wide array of private and public civil disputes. Alternative Dispute Resolution experience: Has arbitrated and mediated over 200 cases involving owners, architects, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, lenders, insurers, sureties, and real estate professionals. Arbitrator for the San Diego County Bar Association in fee disputes between attorneys and clients. Panelist on Public Works Dispute Resolution Board for the City of San Diego, as well as Board of Appeals and Advisors for the City of Chula Vista. Serves as court-appointed discovery referee, special master and mediator for the Superior Court of California.
