Elisa D’Amico is a partner at the law firm of K&L Gates LLP, co-lead of the firm’s global social media law practice, and a founding member and co-lead of the firm’s Digital Crisis Planning & Response. She litigates social media disputes and fights technology facilitated harassment, including sexual cyberharassment, sextortion, online harassment, social media disputes, and other internet-based misconduct. She is well known for her groundbreaking work co-founding the Cyber Civil Rights Legal Project, a global pro bono project aimed at empowering and helping individuals whose sexually explicit images are distributed and displayed online without consent regain control of their digital footprints and their lives. Since 2014, Elisa has been a founding member of the Advisory Board for the Tyler Clementi Institute for CyberSafety at New York Law School and in 2015, she was selected by then California Attorney General Kamala Harris to join her Cyber Exploitation Task Force. She has co-chaired the American Bar Association Forum on Communications Law Digital Communications Committee since 2018 and was recently appointed as Vice Chair-Elect of The Florida Bar Media & Communications Law Committee for the 2021-2022 term.

Elisa often writes and lectures about social media law, technology and digital wellbeing, and has been consulted by myriad media outlets, including the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, CNN, MSNBC, Broadly/VICE, The Meredith Vieira Show, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, Marie Claire, and the Miami Herald. In addition to lecturing about the law, Elisa has also developed non-legal programs geared toward both children and adults aimed at helping them recognize online risks, develop coping mechanisms and strategies, and maximize the positive impact of digital interactions in a way that promotes digital wellbeing. Elisa has a Bachelor of Science in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University, and a Juris Doctorate from the Fordham University School of Law.
