Randy Nussbaum, Partner, Sacks Tierney PA
For more than four decades, Randy Nussbaum has assisted individuals and businesses with complex bankruptcy protection (debtor and creditor), transaction and litigation matters. Randy has represented secured and unsecured creditors, surety companies, creditor committees, lessors, professional athletes, doctors, lawyers, and trustees in Chapter 5, 7, 11, and 13 proceedings, including adversary actions (bankruptcy litigation). The cases have involved such diverse matters as real estate, construction, manufacturing, trucking, asset-based lending, bankruptcy related to divorce, and high-value, and complex individual bankruptcies. Randy is a Certified Bankruptcy Specialist (Arizona Board of Legal Specialization) and a Certified Business Bankruptcy Specialist (American Board of Certification). Randy is a respected lecturer and author on topics regarding bankruptcy, construction, and real estate. His peers have honored him with multiple peer rankings for his professional achievements. Randy has been named to the Super Lawyers’ “Top 50” list of Arizona attorneys multiple times and has been selected as one of The Best Lawyers in America© since 2010. Best Lawyers also has three times selected Randy as its “Lawyer of the Year” (Scottsdale), in Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights (2019) and Bankruptcy Litigation (2021 and 2024). Recognized for his life-long commitment to community service, in 2018 Randy joined the distinguished roster of honorees inducted into the Scottsdale History Hall of Fame.
Jacob L Sherrard
is licensed to practice law in Arizona and California and has practiced before federal and state courts in both jurisdictions as lead counsel in complex civil litigation matters. Mr. Sherrard began his professional career during the heightened period of construction defect litigation in 2002 and defended several nationally recognized general contractors in complex litigation matters, including several class actions. In 2004 Mr. Sherrard joined Jennings, Strouss & Salmon where he broadened his practice to include a variety of commercial litigation matters with a heavy emphasis on litigation involving the power of eminent domain. During his tenure at Jennings, Mr. Sherrard represented the property owners in the Tempe Marketplace matter. The case was the subject of intense local scrutiny as it was the first attempt by a municipality in the State of Arizona to condemn property for the purposes of economic redevelopment after the Federal Supreme Court's ruling in Kelo v. City of New London, which itself was the subject of intense national scrutiny and debate. Mr. Sherrard represented the property owners throughout the course of the litigation securing a victory at the trial level and protecting same under the review of the Arizona Supreme Court.
In 2012 Mr. Sherrard joined Kutak Rock where he focused his commercial litigation skills in the creditor's rights arena as an equity partner with the firm. During his tenure at Kutak Rock, Mr. Sherrard served as lead trial counsel for a number of files involving extremely complex asset protection plans which included juridical entities domiciled in Canada, Honk Kong, and the Seychelle Islands with amounts in controversy of $100 million. Recently, Mr. Sherrard resigned from the partnership at Kutak Rock to form Vegvisir Legal Group, PLLC. Vegvisir's mission is to provide practical counsel to clients to help them identify when legal services are required and how to deploy same in a cost-effective manner that meets the client's actual needs.
Ike Devji, Pro Asset Protection
is the founder and managing attorney of Pro Asset Protection/ Arizona Wealth Law. He has two decades of experience devoted exclusively to Asset Protection, Wealth Preservation and Risk Management planning for a national client base of thousands of high net worth individuals representing over $6 billion in personal assets. This client base includes business owners, high risk medical professionals, entrepreneurs, real estate investors, and professional athletes. Ike is the former managing attorney of one of the United States' largest asset protection only law firms, Lodmell & Lodmell, P.C and is currently of-counsel with the firm. He is also of-counsel with the leading multi-state law firm of Davis Miles McGuire Gardner, where he established formal practice groups in the areas of Asset Protection and Wealth Preservation. Ike is a frequent continuing education provider to the legal, financial, and medical professionals and has authored over 250 nationally published articles and is a contributing author to multiple the books on asset protection and risk management.
Jay David Adkisson, Partner, Adkisson PLLC
is a member of Adkisson PLLC and is admitted to practice in Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. A 1988 graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Law with honors and a member of the Oklahoma Law Review, Jay has twice been an expert witness to the U.S. Senate Finance Committee and is the Forbes.com writer on wealth preservation issues. He has served as an ABA Advisor to the drafting committees of the Uniform Voidable Transactions Act, the Uniform Protected Series Act, the Uniform Registration of Canadian Money Judgments Act, and the Uniform Anti-SLAPP Act. He has also served as the Chair of the American Bar Association committees on captive insurance and insurance and financial products. His books include Asset Protection Concepts & Strategies (McGraw-Hill 2004), Adkisson's Captive Insurance Companies (iUniverse 2007), and the Charging Order Practice Guide (Am.Bar.Assoc. 2018). Jay is an honorary member of the California Association of Judgment Professionals and a Hall of Fame member of the National Association of Estate Planning Councils.
