From the White House to the Workplace: How Trump’s Executive Actions Affect Employment Law

This CLE seeks to provide a summary of Executive Branch actions and Executive Orders with respect to federal sector employees, companies with federal contracts, and the enforcement of civil rights legislation in the private sector. Presenter Robert Erbe will focus on the rights of federal employees in connection with recent offers of resignation in exchange for severance, probationary terminations/due process rights, Reductions in Force and the processes applicable to federal employees in exercising their rights. Presenter Patricia Ronan will focus on the impact of the executive orders for private sector corporations, both those with federal contracts and without, and what the executive orders mean for DEIA programs and anti-discrimination claims. Based on the Trump administration’s policies and interpretations of existing law, the presentation will provide some guidance about future enforcement actions by the federal government and litigation by employees.

Alden is a shareholder at Jaburg Wilk and chairs the firm’s Employment and Education Law Departments. She assists employees and employers with wage and hour disputes, harassment and discrimination claims, restrictive covenant disputes, whistleblower claims, and federal and state compliance issues. In her education practice, she assists students and educators with residency, tuition, disability accommodation, discrimination and retaliation, disciplinary matters, and tenure and promotion disputes. Alden has substantial experience representing clients in state and federal court, private arbitration, mediation, and in administrative proceedings. Her wide array of experience affords her unique insight into how to best protect her clients’ interests. Alden has been recognized as a Southwest Super Lawyer Rising Star, Best Lawyers One to Watch, and Phoenix Magazine Top Attorney. Before entering private practice, she clerked for the Honorable Patricia Orozco (Ret.) at the Arizona Court of Appeals.
Audrey Elaine Chastain, Associate, Snell & Wilmer LLP
is a labor and employment associate with Snell & Wilmer, L.L.P. She received her B.S. in Neuroscience & Cognitive Science and her B.S.H.S. in Physiology in 2014 from the University of Arizona and received her law degree from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law in 2017. In addition to co-chairing the State Bar Labor & Employment Section Tucson Lunch CLE Committee, Audrey serves on the Executive Committee for the Tucson Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and is a member of the Tucson Metro Chamber's Military Affairs Committee.
