The Arizona Attorney General’s Worker Protection Unit

Mr. Haskovec is Unit Chief Counsel for the Worker Protection Unit and will discuss the Unit's formation, areas of focus, and work.

The Unit is focused on combating wage theft, tax and payroll fraud, misclassification, anticompetitive agreements in labor markets that violate antitrust laws and suppress wages, and unfair or deceptive acts or practices that affect workers. The Unit also seeks to improve coordination and enforcement among federal and state agencies with a view to increasing compliance with laws that protect workers.

Jarrett Joshua Haskovec
is a shareholder with Lubin & Enoch, P.C. Mr. Haskovec’s practice focuses on virtually all aspects of labor and employment law and administrative matters. He represents labor unions and individual clients in state and federal courts, in labor arbitrations, and in proceedings before a wide variety of administrative agencies and boards. Mr. Haskovec is the Vice-President of the Arizona Employment Lawyers Association, the Arizona affiliate of the National Employment Lawyers Association, and also serves as a member of its board of directors. Mr. Haskovec attended The University of Iowa, receiving a B.A. degree with honors and highest distinction in Global Studies in 2002 and a J.D. with distinction in 2005. In addition, he received a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership and Management in 2010 from Arizona State University. Mr. Haskovec is admitted to practice law in Arizona, Texas, and Iowa and in many federal courts. He has received professional recognition from his peers. Among other things, Mr. Haskovec has attained an AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rating through Martindale-Hubbell and has been selected for inclusion in the Southwest Super Lawyers® lists (Rising Stars lists in 2013-2014; Super Lawyers-Employment & Labor in 2015-2016). 01/16
Samantha Laine Caplinger
has been a Deputy County Attorney with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office since 2013. She graduated from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law in 2012. Currently, Samantha is assigned to the Sex Crimes Bureau where she handles cases involving sexually motivated crime, including the human trafficking of minors. Prior to working in the Sex Crimes Bureau, Samantha was assigned to the Community Based Prosecution Division where she handled a variety of cases involving crimes occurring in the southwest area of Maricopa County.
Alden A Thomas
Kristine Beaudoin, Perkins Coie LLP
was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, before attending college at Fordham University in New York City and Duke Law School in Durham, North Carolina. Kristie was a litigator at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP in its New York and Washington, D.C. offices before moving back to Phoenix to join Perkins Coie LLP, where she specializes in employment law and commercial litigation. Kristie is an active member of the State Bar of Arizona, serving on the Labor & Employment Law Section’s CLE Committee and on the State Bar Convention Working Group. She frequently presents CLEs and authors articles on employment-related issues and is a regular contributor to the Workplace Rules podcast series, where leading experts discuss the most recent trends and regulations in employment.
