Update on the NLRB and confidential settlement agreements

Attendees will learn about the National Labor Relations Board jurisdiction over most employers, whether unionized or not. The Board requires certain provisions in severance agreements and prohibit certain provisions. Acceptable severance agreement provisions will be discussed, and the Board’s rationale for their position.

Thom K Cope, partner, Mesch Clark & Rothschild PC
is a Partner who practices in the firm's Employment and Labor Section. Thom is licensed to practice in Nebraska, California and Arizona. He has served as a judge in the area of public employment law and is listed in Best Lawyers in America, Arizona's Finest Lawyers, and Southwest Super Lawyers. He is a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates an honorary association of trial lawyers. Thom has tried over 80 jury trials to verdict, in all areas of Employment Law, represented numerous clients in EEOC, Wage & Hour cases, and before the National Labor Relations Board in 49 years of practice. Additionally, he is a volunteer Mediator/Trainer for the Arizona Civil Rights Division of the Arizona Attorney General's Office. His latest book is "How Not to be a Stupid Manager. Thom was awarded the Outstanding Achievement award from the State Bar of Arizona's Labor and Employment Law Section for 2021.

is a labor and employment associate with Snell & Wilmer, L.L.P. She received her B.S. in Neuroscience & Cognitive Science and her B.S.H.S. in Physiology in 2014 from the University of Arizona and received her law degree from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law in 2017. In addition to co-chairing the State Bar Labor & Employment Section Tucson Lunch CLE Committee, Audrey serves on the Executive Committee for the Tucson Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and is a member of the Tucson Metro Chamber's Military Affairs Committee.
