T.H.C.: Teaching the Happenings in Cannabis, 2022

Members of the Arizona Cannabis Bar Association will present an overview of 2022 legal updates in the areas of family, dependency, expungements, and Arizona's social equity program.
The group will also cover: • Title and escrow aspects of cannabis-related real estate transactions,
• New tips on cultivation management services agreements and how to keep your client compliant with cannabis laws, and
• Protecting a cannabis business brand.
Finally, members of the Arizona cannabis business community will present on:
• What changes recreational use has brought into the dispensary product lines,
• Medical patient advocacy, as well as
• Arizona cannabis safety testing rules and regulations.

Chadwick L Campbell, Senior Counsel, Thomas Title & Escrow
is responsible for Underwriting and National Commercial Business Development for Thomas Title & Escrow. As a lawyer, advisor, technology leader, and military officer, his career focus has been complex issue management. Since 2015, he has been advising clients on financial and insurance matters. Chad is essentially a deal facilitator-providing underwriting support to our title team, and working with clients to connect them to the various services and resources that Thomas Title offers.
Chad served four years in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft maintenance officer, which included combat duty with a squadron of F-15E fighter jets. After law school, he practiced in Arizona as a civil litigation attorney. In London and Chicago, he ran the EMEA and development operations for a financial-industry software firm. In 2015, he returned to his home state of Arizona, and as a Director for a boutique insurance advisory firm, assisted individual and corporate clients with private placement investments and sophisticated insurance strategies.
He lives in Phoenix with his wife and their three children. He founded a junior tennis program, and is actively involved in the tennis and autism communities. He volunteers at his children's schools, and serves on the Board of Directors of two nonprofits in Phoenix.

Jane Fix, Sol Flower
Jane Fix, Director of Patient Services at Sol Flower Dispensaries, is a medical cannabis patient advocate and spokesperson who has been actively involved in the educational sector of Arizona’s industry since 2011. Fix began her foray into the cannabis space at a local caregiver collective and quickly rose through the ranks to manage and direct facility operations. During her time as a caregiver, Fix recognized a lack of resources for new patients and on a greater scale, a comprehensive patient services program for the industry. With a background in botany and a degree in education from Arizona State University, Fix pivoted her expertise to the burgeoning cannabis space. She went on to spend four years as Head of Patient Services for Monarch Dispensary in Scottsdale, where she was voted one of the Top Ten Influential Women in Arizona Cannabis by Women Grow. In 2016, she was appointed Director of Patient Services at Sol Flower Dispensaries by Copperstate Farms. A firm believer in cannabis as medicine, Fix specializes in working with new patients, focusing on senior and women’s health. As Director of Patient Services, Fix leads the programming for Sol Flower’s educational wellness classroom in Sun City. The mixed-use dispensary complex is the first-of-its-kind in Arizona to have an adjoining café and classroom accessible to the public. Fix oversees class curriculum which includes cannabis 101, medical cannabis for seniors, a guide to essential oils, and more. She also offers free one-on-one consultations for patients. Named an Inspirational Member of the Cannafriends community, Fix has presented at large-scale cannabis conferences throughout the country and devotes much of her time to industry advocacy efforts while supporting and guiding patient welfare.
George Griffeth, Angel MedFlight
George Griffeth is the co-founder and CEO of Level One Labs, an analytical cannabis testing laboratory in South Scottsdale. George is also a co-founder and Executive Director of the Arizona Cannabis Laboratory Association (ACLA). George is a graduate of Arizona State and Hamline Law. He is a member of the State Bar of Arizona, State Bar of Colorado (Inactive), The US District Court for the District of Arizona and The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. George started Level One with his sons, Conner and Brian.
Michael Ryan Hurley, General Counsel, Copperstate Farms
Ryan Hurley is the Chairman of the Cannabis Practice Group at Rose Law Group and affectionately known as the “Father of Cannabis Law” in Arizona. His practice has been focused on the business of legal cannabis since 2010. Before recently rejoining the firm, Ryan was General Counsel at Copperstate Farms, and Sol Flower Dispensaries. Copperstate is the largest grower in AZ (one of the largest cannabis growers in the country) and is vertically integrated with nine Sol Flower branded retail cannabis dispensaries in AZ. As General Counsel, Ryan helped the company grow from its inception to its current position as a leader in market share with nearly 600 employees. At Copperstate/Sol Flower he managed overall company compliance, HR/employment issues, contracting, capital and debt raises, mergers/acquisitions/dispositions, joint ventures and special projects, entity/board management, risk management and litigation strategy.
Ryan has been involved in AZ’s cannabis industry since the very beginning, assisting clients with all aspects of AZ’s marijuana law but primarily focusing on the business of cannabis. He is a frequent presenter at marijuana seminars and conferences throughout the country and is a tireless advocate for marijuana reform and for marijuana patients and businesses in myriad interviews and appearances on TV, print and radio. Mr. Hurley was also deeply involved in the 2016 and 2020 initiatives to legalize adult-use cannabis in AZ and the subsequent regulatory rules. Ryan is one of the founding members and former board member of the National Cannabis Industry Association and a former Vice President of the Arizona Dispensaries Association, of which he is also a founding member. Ryan has been committed to the entire cannabis space from day one and continues to be a thought leader for this emerging industry.
Prior to his focus on the cannabis space, Ryan’s legal background started with land use and zoning law, environmental and water issues, renewable energy and a wide variety of regulatory compliance and administrative law issues. Along with his law degree Ryan has a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Arizona College of Agriculture.
In addition to his interest in cannabis, Ryan has an interest in advancing legal therapeutic psychedelics, and is deeply fascinated with blockchain, decentralized finance (de-fi), digital autonomous organizations (DAOs), web3 and metaverse applications and their nearly limitless potential to revolutionize the world.

Sonia Martinez, Owner, Law Office of Sonia Martinez
was recently appointed as a Judge Pro Tem for Maricopa County Justice Courts. For the past thirteen years, she has been the principal and owner of her own law firm in Mesa, Arizona. She also works in Indian Country and is licensed to practice in over 8 local tribal courts. She focuses her practice on representing tribal and non tribal members in their private family, dependency and criminal law matters. She has also been working with small businesses and tribal governments respecting issues with the Arizona's Medical Marijuana Act since 2010, and is the Vice President of the Arizona Cannabis Lawyer's Association. Ms. Martinez graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southwestern Law School as a John J. Schumacher Minority Leader Scholar and earned special United States Congressional recognition for Outstanding and Invaluable Public Service to the Community in 2004.

Gary M Smith, Guidant Law PLC
is an AV Preeminent-rated™ commercial litigation attorney, is a founding partner of Guidant PLC, and is a mediator/arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association. During his 25+ years in practice, Mr. Smith has represented an assortment of clients in State and Federal courts, administrative hearings, and arbitrations. He has also authored two legal treatises on construction law. Since 2010, Mr. Smith has represented a variety of cannabis industry participants, is a Founding Director and current President of the Cannabis Bar Association and is a frequent lecturer on a variety of cannabis issues.
