From ASL to Closed Captioning - How to Provide Accessibility for Clients with Hearing Loss
Original Program Date :
Length: 01:10

With over 1.1 million Arizonans who are hard of hearing, you are likely to have a client who has hearing loss at some point in your career.  Do you know how to best represent such an individual?  During this 90 minutes, you will learn how to communicate with people with hearing loss to be able to fully represent them.  There are Americans with Disabilities Act accommodations that may be required.  Learn the difference between realtime captioning and realtime from your court reporter.  They look the same, but they are very different.

What you can expect to learn:
· Why talking louder does not help
· Differences between American Sign Language and realtime captioning
· The role of a certified realtime captioner versus a court reporter
